About the Book Book Title: A Promise Forged Author: Cara Putman Genre: World War 2 Romance Release date: Originally released in 2010, Re-released in 2017 Kat transformed in front of him. Her chin came up, her fingers stopped twitching with the fabric of her gown, and a real sparkle bubbled in her eyes. It was like watching Snow White come to life when the prince kissed her. A heartwarming WWII historical from award-winning author Cara Putman: Kat Miller has dreamed of playing baseball her entire life. When she earns a spot on a team in the All-American Girls Professional Softball League, she finds that things aren’t as glamorous as she imagined. She struggles with long road trips, grueling practices, and older teammates who are jealous of her success. And to top it all off, an irritating reporter is constantly getting under Kat’s skin. Events in Jack Raymond’s career have left him cynical and distanced from God. He never wanted to write at a small paper, and he certainly didn’t want to be assigned to something as inconsequential as a women’s softball team. Then Kat walks into his life. The fiery, young softball player somehow climbs the walls around his heart and makes him want to hope again. When lies fly and the league appears to fail, will Kat and Jack’s new love survive? Click here to purchase your copy! About the Author Since the time she could read Nancy Drew, Cara has wanted to write mysteries. In 2005 she attended a book signing at her local Christian bookstore. The rest, as they say, was history. There she met a fellow Indiana writer Colleen Coble. With prompting from her husband, Cara shared her dream with Colleen. Since those infamous words, Cara’s been writing award-winning books. She is currently working on book 30 and 31. Cara Putman is an active member of ACFW, and currently serves on its Executive Board. She has also been the Indiana ACFW chapter president and served as the Area Coordinator for Indiana. Cara is also an attorney, lecturer at a Big Ten university, active in women’s ministry, and all around crazy woman. Crazy about God, her husband and her kids that is. She graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Go Huskers!) and George Mason Law School, and Krannert School of Management. You can learn more about Cara at www.caraputman.com <http://www.caraputman.com/>. My Review A Promise Forged is number three in a series. I have not read the two books prior to this one, but I still enjoyed this story. If you are a fan of baseball then you will probably really like this one. Kat is one of the main characters and probably my favorite. She is young and strong in her faith. Some of her team mates were not very nice to her at times . I felt sorry for these ladies and the way that they wanted them to "act" like a lady and even their outfits for playing ball were ridiculous. But if they wanted this chance they had to go along with all the rules. Times sure have changed alot. I enjoyed this story from the beginning. It did a good job of drawing me in and getting me hooked. Disclaimer: I was given a complimentary copy of this book but all thoughts and opinions are my own honest ones. About the Book Book Title: Running Author: Dave Milbrandt Genre: Christian Suspense Release date: May 1, 2018 An assassin’s bullet sends Jim Mitchell running. When he’ll stop is anybody’s guess. A tragedy propels Jim into a vacant state assembly seat. The new lawmaker and his wife have a baby on the way, but that doesn’t stop the people trying to keep him from a job he never wanted in the first place. Then Jim gets involved in a plan to thwart a major terror attack that could either make him a hero or get him killed. Political intrigue and high drama accent this tale of what it costs to find one’s purpose, and what the rewards can be when you do. Running is the third book in the Jim Mitchell series. Previous titles include Chasing Deception and Undue Pressure. Click here to purchase your copy. About the Author The author of Chasing Deception and Undue Pressure, Dave Milbrandt fell in love with writing in junior high and has been a storyteller ever since. A former staff writer for a daily newspaper, the Southern California native spent five years in journalism and public relations before becoming a teacher. Having worked at several area colleges, Dave has taught high school English and Social Studies classes since 2005 and fills his evenings sharing a passion for politics with his community college students. Dave and his wife, Lynn, have been married since 1997. My Review Running is a part of a series. I have not read the prior books in the series, but that did not make me feel lost while reading Running. This story is set in the major world of politics. Jim Mitchell is the primary main character. He was a reporter and through a set of circumstances he finds himself now running for a political office. Jim talks things over with his pregnant wife before making any big choices that would affect their family. This story has quite a bit of suspense. I found this story to be fast paced and will keep you on the edge of your seat at times. Also you get to see a little of how things might actually be for those in the political life and how "dirty" it can be and how things affect them and their families. This was an enjoyable read. It’s December in Road’s End, Virginia, a tiny town long forgotten by anyone but its residents, where Colonel Hugh Foster and his wife, Melanie, have chosen to live--for better or worse. The jury’s still out on that one! Road’s End is comprised entirely of senior citizens whose kids have grown and left for greener pastures. Hugh, Melanie, and Bristol (one of the few sane people in town) are faced with a crumbling church in desperate need of repair and renovation, a dwindling congregation of opinionated, ornery senior citizens, and a camel--yes, a camel. And ifthat's not enough, the trio and the rest of the Road's End residents are soon mired in danger and intrigue when a group of gun-toting drugdealers arrive in town, bent on killing the church handyman, and conspiring to ruin the doggonedest record-breaking blizzard the town has ever seen. Poor drug dealers. About the Author: Deborah Dee Harper writes from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and specializes in humorous, inspirational Christian books for both children and adults. Her novel, Misstep, is the first book in her Road’s End series for adults (although children are welcome to read them as well). She’s also written a children’s adventure series, Laramie on the Lam, that is inspirational, humorous, and full of fun. (Many of Laramie’s fans are adults!) Her website is at www.deborahdeeharper.com. My Review Misstep is the first book in The Road's End series. The background for this story is a little town in Virginia during a blizzard. I loved this story . It is some mystery mixed with some comedy. This story got me laughing along the way . Hugh and Melanie are new to town and are planning on opening an inn. You will quickly fall in love with the older characters, the little country church , and the chickens. This is one of those cozy feel good stories that is great to curl up and read on a rainy day or winter day or really any day. Great read. I will have to read more from this series and this author. Disclaimer : I was given a complimentary copy of this book but all thoughts and opinions are my own honest ones. Th About the Book Title: This Freedom Journey Author: Misty M. Beller Genre: Christian Historical Romance Release Date: July 11, 2018 Adrien Lockman is through with the political unrest and bloodshed in his home country of France, so he sets off to the Canadian territory’s mountain frontier, in search of a place where a man can live his own life in peace. The last thing he expects to find is a woman, half-starved and half-frozen in a shack nestled among the towering peaks of the great Rocky Mountains. Mary Standish thought she’d finally found a place where she was accepted, trapping with her husband for the Hudson Bay Company. But when he dies after a gruesome grizzly fight, she determines to carry on their work. After all, life in these remote mountains is better than enduring the scorn and snubs of “civilized” folk. When she’s forced to face a winter harder than any she’s endured yet, her stubbornness may just be the death of her. Until a stranger appears at her ramshackle door. Adrien had planned to explore the mountain country all winter before he settles down to build a farm in the spring, but he can’t leave this woman to die in the elements. Even though she seems desperate for him to go. As Mary regains strength, she’s torn between wanting to save her dignity, and craving the respect of this man who’s slipped past her defenses. As the winter worsens, the truth becomes all too real—the only way they’ll survive is together. Click here to purchase your copy! About the Author Misty M. Beller writes romantic mountain stories, set on the 1800s frontier and woven with the truth of God’s love. She was raised on a farm in South Carolina, so her Southern roots run deep. Growing up, her family was close, and they continue to keep that priority today. Her husband and daughters now add another dimension to her life, keeping her both grounded and crazy. God has placed a desire in Misty’s heart to combine her love for Christian fiction and the simpler ranch life, writing historical novels that display God’s abundant love through the twists and turns in the lives of her characters. My Review This story is historical romance. You will be pulled into this story from the start. You will meet Mary and Adrien in this story. Adrien finds himself in the middle of nowhere during a blizzard. When he stumbles across a shack he will take cover there. Now he was quite surprised to find a woman alone in the shack. Mary was in a bad condition when Adrien stumbled in. At first Mary was really wanting to send him away but after awhile she begins to trust him. The author did such a good job of writing this story that even while reading this in summer you can almost hear the winds and feel the coldness. This was a good read. One woman with a gift. A supernatural battle with lives at stake. Tiffany Rodgers has been blessed with the gift of animal communication. It’s not always been easy, but she is able to help others using her gifts. For no apparent reason, a stalker is threatening her, at the same time that she’s dealing with terrifying nightmares. Will her new ally, Officer Allen Lawrence understand her gift? Can she clarify her forebodings of evil, cope with the messages written in blood, and help find her kidnapped friend before more harm comes to Newville or herself? The time has come for Tiffany take a stand and fight for her safety and her sanity. What people are saying about Evil Forebodings: “When Christian belief is challenged by spiritual forces of darkness in a small town. . .who will ultimately triumph? You’ll need to read Evil Forebodings to discover the answer for yourself.“ A supernatural, paranormal novel with plenty of suspense and a bit of romance. From page one, I was getting tingles down my spine. I would recommend this novel to readers that enjoy supernatural, paranormal, suspense stories.” “Jeepers, Creepers, you won't want to close those peepers! If you like scary books then you will like this one. This touches on spiritual warfare and the unseen evil that goes on in the world. I like that she wrote about the pastor and other believers praying during the town's battle with darkness and evil.” “The storyline was fascinating and unique. I loved that Tiffany could communicate with animals and that spiritual gifts and warfare are such a huge part of the story.” About the Author: Carol E. Keen enjoys fresh coffee, hot tea, and a good book. She was published for several years in FAMA magazine (Freshwater And Marine Aquarium) as a contributing editor. She published her first book on CD, called Simply Seahorses. She now resides in Alabama with her husband and family and spends her time writing, reading, working in photography, and being with her much loved critters. My Review: If you are a fan of paranormal stories then this is one you will like. This story has alot of suspense and some romance in it. Newville has alot of strange things going on in it. Tiffany is the main character in this story. She is being stalked. There is some odd human and animal interaction in this. This is not a light read but rather a kind of scary read. About the Book Title: Firestorm Author: Laura Hilton Genre: Christian Amish Release Date: July, 2018 Bridget Behr and her family migrate from the bustling Amish community where she grew up in Ohio to the mostly unpopulated Upper Peninsula of Michigan after a stalker breaks into their home. While her father and brother try to find work in the area, the family is forced to reside in a borrowed RV until the house and barn are rebuilt. While Bridget is hoping for a fresh start, she’s afraid to trust anyone—even Gabriel, the overly-friendly Amish man who lives nearby. Bridget thinks he’s a flirt who serial dates and doesn’t even remember the girls’ names. Due to not enough construction work in his Florida community to keep him out of trouble, Gabriel Lapp has been sent to Michigan to work. His father is desperate for his son to settle down. When the family walks into Gabe’s home in the middle of a thunderstorm and he discovers their circumstances, he offers to help with construction. For Gabe, the beautiful girl he teasingly calls “the recluse” once he discovers she doesn’t attend youth events, confuses him like none other. As Gabriel and Bridget grow closer, they realize there is more to a person than meets the eye. Just as Bridget is finally settling into her new life, and perhaps finding love, tragedy strikes. Now Bridget and her family must decide if they should move to another Amish community, or dare to fight for the future they’d hoped for in Mackinac County. Click here to purchase your copy! About the Author Laura V. Hilton is an award-winning, sought-after author with over twenty Amish, contemporary, and historical romances. When she’s not writing, she reviews books for her blogs, and writes devotionals for blog posts for Seriously Write. Laura and her pastor-husband have five children and a hyper dog named Skye. They currently live in Arkansas. One son is in the U.S. Coast Guard. She is a pastor’s wife, and homeschools her two youngest children. When she’s not writing, Laura enjoys reading, and visiting lighthouses and waterfalls. Her favorite season is winter, her favorite holiday is Christmas. My Review Firestorm is book one in a new Amish fiction series. When Bridget's family relocates to a new area they find their new home in a not so good shape. They meet Gabe late one night in a funny manner. Despite Bridget's father not being so nice to him Gabe still goes out of his way to help their family. Everytime Gabe and Bridget were together something not so good happened , so it was like the odds were against them in the romance category. I felt sorry for poor Gabe. No matter how much he tried it seemed like he always stumbled into some kind of situation that got him into trouble with the elders. This was a really enjoyable read. My Review Revealed is the third book in the Intrigue Under Western Skies series. Katherine's life changed alot after the death of her father and then her mother became ill. She makes a hard decision in going against her mother's wishes and contacting her half brother. My Review Sons of Blackbird Mountain is the first book in a new series. I do not recall having read anything else by this author before. I have to admit reading the back of the cover did not really interest me in this read. But I was quite surprised to have been quickly pulled into this story. If there is more to come about these characters I would for sure read more. Aven traveled from Norway to care for the young Norgaard boys. She was a young widow. When she arrives she is met with a quite different situation than what she was expecting. This story involves an addiction, suicide, romance, deafness, and family relationships. The brothers are all so different . I found myself loving all of the characters. Did not want to lay this book down at times. Very good read. Seeking sanctuary in the small town of Maple Run, she’s intent on starting her life over—one she hopes honors Christ. The plan was going great until an undeniable attraction to Micah has her wondering if she’s changed at all. Micah Campbell can’t understand why Belle is so uptight and wants nothing to do with her until the gentle whispers of God tell him to befriend her. He didn’t count on the feeling of protectiveness to rise up or that spark of attraction. Can love really conquer all or will Belle’s past be too much for Micah to handle? You can find her on her website at http://tonishiloh.wordpress.com. My Review Enduring Love is the third book in the Maple Run series. I think you could probably read this as a stand alone, but I would encourage you to go back and read from the start. This is a good series. Toni Shiloh has become one of my favourite authors. Maple Run is a sweet little town. The Pit is a very welcoming place to eat and oh the descriptions of the foods will cause you to think you can smell it as you read it. Belle is new to town and the new nurse at a dr office. This story was quite emotional at times with the dealings of hurt, fear, and forgiveness. Micah also works at the dr office. He seems like someone all women would like. I love how he lets God lead him and hold him back at times. This story also has some humor in it. I could just see Micah feeling puzzled when Belle would act or respond one way at times and then different at other times. This story will put a smile on your face. You will find yourself connecting to the characters like they are people you know and you will be cheering for them . Great read that I highly recommend . Disclaimer: I was given a complimentary copy of this book but all thoughts and opinions are my own honest ones.
