My Review
Chasing Embers is the second book in a series. I have not read the first book , but I am guessing if I had it would have given me a little bit more info on all of the characters in this story. In this book you are going to find a sweet romance that is a clean read. Belle and Colton run into each other after years of having gone their separate ways. I think some feelings were stirred up when they ran into each other. Colton had chosen to go after his firefighting dream which took him away from Belle. Belle just recently met Ian . Belle's family are the Harts and they own a ranch and are a close Christian family. I really felt for Belle with having been hurt and it giving her issues with trust. This was a nice sweet read. Disclaimer : I was given a complimentary copy but all thoughts and opinions are my own honest ones.

About the Book
Book Title: Toby’s Troubles
Author: Carole Brown
Genre: Romantic Mystery, Cozy Mystery
Release date: July 1, 2018
Everyone loves Toby Gibson. A co-owner of Undiscovered Treasures, a unique shop of antiques, collectables and junk, Toby is friendly, generous to a fault, the director of the local plays in Appleton and supports his church’s youth functions. But the minute his sister, Caroline and her new husband, take off for their honeymoon, a “ghost” begins to haunt the shop—or maybe it’s just an intruder. If so, Toby has no idea for what he is looking. To add to his troubles, he suspects Amy, not only is bidding for the property he’s wanted forever, but is in love with him. And he’s not interested.
Amy Sanderson who owns the only flower shop in Appleton—Bloomin’ Life—is drawn into capturing Toby’s “ghost” when her own business is damaged by a destructive intruder. Having loved Toby from childhood, she’s more than willing to join forces with him. But she has no interest in being his best friend or like a sister to him. And if she has to resort to schemes of outbidding him at his frequent auction attendences to get his attention, then so be it. She can be just as stubborn as the man who’s determined to ignore her love.
In between the break-ins, destruction of property, thefts and personal competitions against each other, Amy and Toby work together to find the thief who seems so determined to find a valuable item, he’ll stop at nothing.

About the Author
Besides being a member and active participant of many writing groups, Carole Brown enjoys mentoring beginning writers. An author of ten books, she loves to weave suspense and tough topics into her books, along with a touch of romance and whimsy, and is always on the lookout for outstanding titles and catchy ideas. She and her husband reside in SE Ohio but have ministered and counseled nationally and internationally. Together, they enjoy their grandsons, traveling, gardening, good food, the simple life, and did she mention their grandsons?

My Review
Toby's Troubles is the fourth book in a series. I have read one of the previous books but not all of them. This story is set in a small town. Toby owns an antique shop and Amy owns a flower shop. They both had a break in and one of the shop had more than one break in. At first Toby suspected it might be a ghost. This story holds mystery and romance. It was a light read that also had bits of funniness tied in. Overall a good read that I enjoyed. Disclaimer: I was given a complimentary copy of this book but all thoughts and opinions are my own honest ones.

My Review
The Hope Jar is the first book in a new series of Amish fiction. Michelle and Sara are two young women that were raised in very different situations. They both find themselves in hard spots. Michelle was trying to get away from an abusive boyfriend. While she is in a bus station the Lapps enter the scene and mistakenly think she is their granddaughter that they were expecting to meet. Poor Michelle may have made a bad choice but she kind of fell into it and had no where else to go . As time goes on as she feels comfortable and actually loved and accepted she also feels guilty of her lies. Everyone in this story was very likable for the most part and easy to get attached to the characters. The ending was one of those no .....now what happens. Then I flipped a few more pages and discover the next book in the series doesn't come out until February next year .......what. Loved this story ! Great read if you are a fan of the Amish fiction. About the Book

Title:
Ties that Blind
Author: Chautona Havig
Release date: August, 2018
Genre: Suspense
He may not be the only person in the Rockland area to wake up without a memory, but he might be the only killer…
Simon Prescott, the latest victim of spontaneous amnesia in Rockland, is under suspicion of murder. The evidence, though weak and circumstantial, points only to him. He’s confident he didn’t do it, but there’s no way to prove it. Grieving for a wife he doesn’t remember, Simon refuses to allow his family in, refuses to cooperate with police, and is heading straight for the pokey if he doesn’t figure out something and fast.
Enter: Ella Weeks and Vikki Jeffries. The previous two victims are determined to help him, and with jail time looming, Simon capitulates. But what Vikki and Ella find as they work through Simon’s life reveals astounding and rather chilling evidence of a bigger scheme than any of them could have imagined.
They’re on the verge of total discovery, but the closer they get, the less confident they are that they want to know.

My Review
Ties that Blind is number three in a series. I have not read the previous two books but still enjoyed reading this story. Now let me warn you to hold on to your seat cause this story will grab you in and take you for a ride. It is set in modern day. The main characters also seem to have strayed from God a little too and are searching for answers . I really really found it hard to put this story down. Ties that Blind is full of drama, suspense, a lil romance, lots of twists. Simon is one of three main characters that have lost their memory. His wife was killed. At times he knows without a doubt that he did not do it but there are other times he is not so sure. Now his neighbor tries to help him and in the process she gets hurt too. I would think I would know how this story was going to turn and then it would take another surprising twist. I totally loved this story and would recommend it .......great read. About the Author
Alana is a pastor’s wife, homeschooling mom, self-diagnosed chicken lady, and Christian suspense author. Her novels have won awards from Women of Faith, Book Club Network, Grace Awards, Readers’ Favorite, and more. Alana’s passion for social justice, human rights, and religious freedom shines through her writing, and her books are known for raising tough questions without preaching. She and her family live in rural Alaska where the northern lights in the winter and midnight sun in the summer make hauling water, surviving the annual mosquito apocalypse, and cleaning goat stalls in negative forty degrees worth every second.

My Review
Out of North Korea is a fast moving story that does not waste any time but gets going from the beginning. Ian is one of the main characters. He finds himself in a bad situation. His Grandma Lucy was a praying woman that it seems was full of wisdom. This story seemed so real it was almost like something you would hear on the news. I could even imagine this story being turned into a movie. I found this pulling me in and not wanting to lay it down. Overall not a bad read. About the Book
Book Title: Chaos: In the Blink of an Eye
Author: Patrick Higgins
Genre: Christian Mystery/Suspense
Release date: September, 2015
It was the weekend before Thanksgiving. More than 100,000 fans were jammed inside Michigan Stadium, on their feet, to witness a heated football rivalry that had spanned more than 100 years. As the football was kicked into the snow-filled sky, they were about to get the shock of their lives, as long-foretold Bible prophecy came to pass before their very eyes, causing many to vanish into thin air without a trace.
But what they soon realized was that it reached far beyond Michigan Stadium. Chaos of unimaginable proportions ensued worldwide. Shock, fear and panic filled each heart and mind. It was just the beginning of things to come, as life as humanity had known it was forever changed in the blink of an eye…

About the Author
Patrick Higgins is the author of The Pelican Trees, Coffee In Manila, the award-winning The Unannounced Christmas Visitor, and the award-winning prophetic end-times series, Chaos In The Blink Of An Eye. While the stories he writes all have different themes and take place in different settings, the one thread that links them all together is his heart for Jesus and his yearning for the lost.
With that in mind, it is his wish that the message his stories convey will greatly impact each reader, by challenging you not only to contemplate life on this side of the grave, but on the other side as well. After all, each of us will spend eternity at one of two places, based solely upon a single decision which must be made this side of the grave. That decision will be made crystal clear to each reader of his books.
Higgins is currently writing many other books, both fiction and non-fiction, including a sequel to Coffee In Manila, which will shine a bright, sobering light on the diabolical human trafficking industry.

My Review
Wow ! This book or short story that is a prequel will have you on the edge of your seat or it did me. I love how the author takes plenty of time to describe each person and their life situations. This story kind of centers around a sports game but you do not have to be a sports lover to enjoy the story. And there is much more in this story than just the mention of sports. I would like to read more in this series cause this prequel does a good job of a cliff hanger ending . This is also a story that will really make you think of what is to come and how it could possibly play out and what the most important thing should be in our lives. Great read that I would recommend ! Disclaimer: I was given a complimentary copy but all thoughts and opinions are my own honest ones.

My Review
Rebecca's Legacy is number three in the Legacy series. I have not read the previous books in the series but didn't have too much trouble with reading this story. The story is set in the 1940s . Amy is one of the main characters and she is a rich girl that is spoiled quite a bit. Her family , mainly her father, decided to send her off the summer after her high school graduation. She is sent to a farm that is owned by her rich family. Her summer away requires her to work at this farm. She definatley learns alot during this summer away. This story has mystery and romance. Was a good read and enjoyable read. Disclaimer: I was given a complimentary copy of this book but all thoughts and opinions are my own honest ones.

About the Book
Book Title: Argosy Junction
Author: Chautona Havig
Genre: Christian Fiction/Romance
Release date: 1st edition: March 11, 2010 ; 2nd edition: August, 2018
“I want nothing to do with Jesus or God.”
After over twenty years of abuses from the cult-like church she grew up in, Lane Argosy has had it with God and His people. Though the Brethren try to make Lane and her family’s lives unbearable, freedom from their warped brand of Christianity is sweet. She’ll never go back… never.
He just wanted to visit the country he’d explored through books. So, when Matt Rushby arrives in Argosy Junction, Montana, he expects idyllic meadows and craggy rocks towering above, old-fashioned friendliness and at least one or two cowboys. Instead, he finds familiar hatred and factions very much like the ones back home in Rockland’s inner-city gangs.
The Argosy family is disillusioned, broken, and floundering. Matt knows the answer is Jesus—just Him and not the trappings of a faith He never designed.
But how can Matt help them turn their hearts back to the Lord when he suspects Lane has stolen his?

My Review
This story starts with a city person and a country person meeting in a quite funny way. Matt and Lane become good friends despite being raised quite differently . Lane's family has grown distant with God . This story has forgiveness, romance, and interesting tid bits regarding cults. You will also probably find yourself laughing a bit like with the honey and boots incident . At times this story tended to drag on a bit and you might find yourself wanting it to hurry up . Overall an enjoyable read. Disclaimer: I was given a complimentary copy of this book but all thoughts and opinions are my own honest ones.

About the Book

Title: Kingdom of Ruins
Author: D.C. Marino
Genre: Fantasy
Release Date: July 27, 2018
In the Lands Within, history does not rest. Each archaeological layer communicates with the living generation, choosing its friends and enemies—and its kings. But an alliance has been struck no one could have anticipated, and an ancient evil is soaking into the soil. History is being erased, purchased and re-written at a terrible price. And a kingdom that shouldn’t have been forgotten is fading from memory.
In the Lands Without, archaeologist Lori Brickland has found a pottery shard with a heartbeat. The pulse might be a trick of the mind, or it might be the first sign of life in a world of ruin. An exiled traveler will say she shouldn’t search for the truth, a calculating ruler will say she’s the one he’s looking for. And the kingdom? The kingdom will need her before the end. It’s time to accept what she’s always known…
This isn’t archaeology.
This is war.

About the Author
D.C. Marino is a dedicated reader of history books and fantasy novels, both of which occupy an equal amount of space on her bookshelves. But it wasn’t until she realized how one breathed life into the other that she became addicted to finding the intersections of the real world and the fairy story. Still more: what those intersections about us as a creative, curious people. Kingdom of Ruins is her debut novel.

My Review
Kingdom of Ruins is a fantasy type of story. Lori has the ability to feel the past by items she finds or places she goes. In this story you will travel to a strange world. Along the way there is plenty of secrets and mystery. It took me awhile to really get pulled into the story. But the story was well written with lots of detail . Disclaimer: I was given a complimentary copy of this book but all thoughts and opinions are my own honest ones.

About the Book
Book Title: The Banished Lands, book one in The Banished Lands Seriesthe
Author: Benjamin Mester
Genre: Fantasy
Release date: May, 2015
A kingdom in danger. A prophecy that will change everything. But will they understand it in time? The old world is gone, and barely even histories remain. But something from that time is returning. The closing lines of a farewell poem, written centuries ago by the last great king of the age to his slain wife, might be more than just a poem:
The world and all its light shall fade,
I’ll stay with her beneath the shade
And wait until the world’s remade…
Join us in this epic fantasy adventure as three friends plunge into the great mystery of their age, twelve centuries in the making. A mysterious fog blankets the forest just outside the sleepy town of Suriya. A dark plot unfolds as Durian and his friends discover ties between a strange wanderer and the warlike barbarian kingdom far to the north. Are the mysterious things happening in the forest a prelude to invasion? What happens next will propel Durian and his curious friends into the middle of the oldest riddle in the history of their kingdom, a dozen centuries old.

About the Author
Benjamin Mester is a novelist and poet. He fell in love with the written word and beauty of language at a young age, marvelling at the way a story can transport a person, enveloping their whole mind and heart as they dive into new places and grand adventures. A lover of nature, Mester has spent the whole of his adult life immersed in the study of poetry, often wandering the woodlands of northern Minnesota or the beaches of California.
If asked about his writing, he would say his overarching goal is to inspire people to live with greater passion, often quoting one of his favorite Proverbs, 14:8: The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways. How often do we stop to give thought to our ways, asking ourselves why we live the way we do? What does it mean to live to the full? How can I love more deeply? Mester hopes his writing will build a longing in his readers, that his stories inspire them to want more for their lives than the mediocrity of good enough we so often settle for.

My Review
The Banished Lands is the first book in a series. This story seemed very slow to get going and dragged on quite a bit. This story is a fantasy type book . Plenty of mystery in this story. Durian and his friends are trying to solve a mystery. They become involved in a fight between good and evil. The added poetry was a nice touch to this story. The author did good with writing with lots of descriptions. When reading about the old man's walking stick you could just picture seeing it with all of the description. Disclaimer: I was given a complimentary copy of this book but all thoughts and opinions are my own honest ones.
